At True Honey, we have always held the belief that the land makes its own medicine, and that the people who came before us, long ago recognised the remarkable healing powers found in nature. The Chinese healers who prescribed honey as a panacea, Middle Eastern cultures who revered honey as a symbol of health, healing and prosperity, and here in Aotearoa New Zealand, indigenous Māori who early on discovered the profound properties of pure mānuka.
It’s that ancient wisdom that started us on the path we’re on today. That and the fearlessness of our Founder – Jim McMillan, who sealed a deal with a handshake, and set out on a quest to share the wellness benefits of potent high-grade mānuka honey from our whenua – land - with the world.
