Description
The Young Musicians' Foundation Orchestra (TYMFO) is a distinctly Singapore orchestra whose mission is to nurture and develop the artistic growth of Singapore's GEN Y pre- professional orchestral musicians (instrumentalists, composers, and conductors), by providing for them the platform to smoothly transition into the professional music industry. TYMFO is currently led by its Music Director Alvin Seville Arumugam who is pursuing his Masters in Conducting at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.
TYMFO expresses the shared aspiration of many young talented music makers to be Singapore's next professional homegrown orchestra - locally made for Singaporeans. TYMFO's uniqueness lies in the provision of tailored opportunities for local pre-professional musicians, conductors and composers.
TYMFO values fearlessness in innovation, contribution to our Singapore community, camaraderie in Singapore's artistic circle, and mastery of the art. In harmony with our core values, our objectives are targeted towards two communities: the music community and the public. For the music community, we aim to hone the ensemble skills of our musicians to the highest level to challenge the musical standards of Singapore and establish true camaraderie and cooperation between the professional and pre-professional artists. For the public community, we want to cultivate an appreciation for orchestral music.
We will redefine the meaning of orchestral music in Singapore, by daring to innovate in all decisions we make.
