Description
PPNS selalu siap dalam menghadapi persaingan global dan terus berbenah untuk menangkap peluang yang ada. Oleh sebab itu pengembangan SDM terus dilakuan, baik tenaga pendidik maupun tenaga kependidikan melalui pelatihan dan studi lanjut ke jenjang yang lebih tinggi (S3). Peremajaan peralatan laboratorium, penambahan gedung kuliah, penambahan dan pembenahan sarana dan prasarana gedung kuliah juga dilakukan untuk menjawab kebutuhan “stake holder” akan kualitas lulusan.
Hal tersebut di atas dapat dilakukan karena PPNS selalu memanfaatkan kesempatan yang diberikan oleh Kementerian Riset, Teknologi dan Pendidikan Tinggi (RISTEKDIKTI) untuk mengikuti Program Hibah Kompetisi (PHK) dan beberapa Penelitian dan Pengabdian pada Masyarakat. Beberapa Program Hibah Kompetisi yang diperoleh Politeknik Perkapalan antara lain: Due – like; TPSDP (Technological and Professional Skills Development Sector Project), INHERENT (Indonesian Higher Education Network), IMHERE (Indonesia Managing Higher Education for Relevancy & Efficiency) dan PEDP (Polytechnic Education Development Project). PPNS juga mendapat kepercayaan dari beberapa perusahaan maupun instansi pemerintah dan BUMN untuk melakukan kerjasama terkait dengan peningkatan kualitas dan kompetensi SDM. PPNS juga memberi sumbangan besar bagi dunia kemaeritiman Indonesia dengan menyusun Standar Kompetensi Nasional bidang Perkapalan.
Dengan kemampuan tersebut di atas PPNS mantap untuk mengembangkan diri. Dari yang semula fokus di pendidikan jenjang Diploma-3 (Advance Diplome), PPNS juga mengarah ke jenjang Sarjana Terapan (Bachelor of Applied Technology) yang ditempuh dalam waktu 4 (empat) tahun. Target 2 (dua) tahun ke-depan (2018) PPNS juga akan menyelenggarakan program Magister Terapan (S2) yang fokus pada bidang Maritime Technology.
