Description

SHero (pronounced as She-Ro) is a civil society organization dedicated to ending gender-based violence and de-normalizing violent culture in Thailand. Since our establishment in 2016, we have provided legal and emotional support to survivors of violence, conducted workshops on gender-based violence protection, and advocated for better access to justice for violence survivors. In 2021, SHero trained 75 lawyers on gender-based violence, survivor-centred approach, trauma informed-care, feminist legal theory and case management. We've recruited a selection of inspiring pro bono lawyers to join our team. At the moment, our collective consisted of 30 pro bono lawyers, social workers, therapists, case workers, and trained volunteers working together to support both Thai and non-Thai survivors of domestic violence and gender-based violence in Thailand.

At SHero, we believe that everyone can be a hero or 'Shero', and create positive change in their communities. We target young generations and empower them to combat violent culture and become the voices of change. Our primary strategies include creating safe spaces for young people to discuss solutions, providing pro bono legal aid, documenting cases for policy advocacy, ensuring access to justice, and empowering survivors to liberate themselves from all forms of violence, abuse, and exploitation.

As of February 2023, our efforts have resulted in supporting 374 cases of GBV, assisting over 22 community-based organizations, conducting workshops for 3,437 youth and multidisciplinary actors, engaging 165 young leaders through SHero Youth Forums, and involving 45 pro bono lawyers and case management volunteers.
