Description
The Self-insurers Association Victoria (SIAV) commenced in August 1985 prior to the commencement of the Accident Compensation Act on 1 September 1985. At that time there were 10 self-insurers under the Act. Since then, the number of self-insured employers in Victoria has grown, as has the membership of SIAV. Our membership base has also grown to include affiliate members who provide services to self-insured employers.
SIAV is recognised as a major stakeholder in the workers compensation and occupational health and safety environment in Victoria. We represent self-insured employers from a broad range of industry sectors with diverse operations. We work to understand the needs and interests of our members and represent those views in a variety of forums and to the relevant stakeholders, including WorkSafe and the Government.
