We started our journey with a mission to build the next generation of civic warriors in Malaysia. But as we spoke to young people, we realised there was a bigger problem at hand: youth not in employment, education or training (NEET). Their anxieties were validated by the statistics: youth unemployment is above 12% - triple the country's national unemployment.
At Nation Building School, we have transformed from a bootstrapped NGO in Bukit Tunku, Kuala Lumpur, into a leading social enterprise tackling youth unemployment and underemployment. Our journey includes expanding capacity-building programs for young people and launching the Malaysia Jobs Coalition to champion zero unemployment through a job guarantee. Our the training arm provides transformative career development for emerging leaders and mid-career professionals. As Malaysia’s first certified Designing Your Life (DYL) coach, trained by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans of Stanford University, we bring innovative strategies to empower individuals in their career journeys.
