Maggie’s Rescue Cooperative Ltd was founded in 2011 and is proudly a “No-Kill’ organisation. We are a Co-operative of Carers who together, help save the lives of companion animals & re-home them into families for life! These animals are placed with a Foster Carer where they live & become part of their families. This is key to the success of our Foster Care Program, as it both cares form & rehabilitates the animals in preparation for their new life. Maggie’s covers all vet care costs up until they are adopted. Our headquarters at Addison Road Community Centre in Marrickville, is a community office space for our Admin, Rescue and Rehoming crew, Training facilities and storage for the organisation. We also distribute donated food & supplies to support smaller rescue organisations.
As with most Not-for-Profits, our activities are largely limited by availability of volunteers & funds from fundraising activity & community donations. Regardless of our circumstances, we always hold true to our core mission;
To rescue and re-home domestic animals at risk To educate our community on Responsible Pet Ownership To advocate for, and assist in the de-sexing of domestic & street pets To fundraise for our Community De-sex Bank To promote the welfare of dogs and cats through community education To liaise with other animal welfare organisations to work towards the introduction of better legislation which gives greater protection to all animals & provides further direction for registered rescue organisations.
