Description

Intelligent Transport Systems Australia (ITS Australia) promotes the development and deployment of advanced technologies to deliver safer, more efficient and environmentally sustainable transport across all public and private modes – air, sea, road and rail.

Established in 1992, ITS Australia is an independent not-for-profit incorporated membership organisation representing ITS suppliers, government authorities, academia and transport businesses and users. Affiliated with peak ITS organisations around the world, ITS Australia is a major contributor to the development of the industry.

ITS Australia has hosted two ITS World Congresses - Sydney 2001 and Melbourne 2016. It is a great honour for Australia to be selected as a two time host national for this prestigious event.

The 2016 ITS World Congress in Melbourne attracted more than 11,500 delegates from 73 countries. It was the largest international association congress in Australia that year and brought an economic beneift to the country of $25million.

ITS technologies include communication, data processing and electronic technologies for in-vehicle, vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-infrastructure and mode-to-mode systems that increase transport safety and mobility, improve the sustainability of travel, reduce congestion, and improve the performance and competitiveness of all modes of transport.
