Description
The Australian Centre for Health Law Research (ACHLR) is a research centre based at the Queensland University of Technology. ACHLR is comprised of some 35 transdisciplinary academic researchers, a large and growing cohort of PhD students, esteemed adjunct professors and an outstanding group of research assistants. The Centre’s research spans the health law field from the beginning to the end of life. We have four programs:
End of Life;
Planning for Healthy Ageing;
Rights, Social Justice and Health; and Public Health Law and Ethics.
Our researchers are leading debates and investigating the laws, policy and practice in these areas.
Health law is critical to support health systems, the delivery of health services and positive health outcomes for everyone. As society evolves, research provides the evidence base for the constant reform which allows health law, policy practice, ethics, and regulation to keep pace with social change.
Our Centre’s researchers critically evaluate the legal, ethical, policy and regulatory frameworks, both conceptual and practical, which support and regulate the delivery of health services in diverse contexts.
This research serves the interests of the individuals, communities, and institutions that deliver and benefit from health services and other interventions that aim to improve health locally and globally.
