Description
Young Pride Foundation is a trans youth-led organization based in Chiang Mai Thailand. It was founded by Best Chitsanupong and a group of Chiang Mai University transgender students in 2018 who pushed for the regulation change for transgender students being able to dress in uniforms matching the gender identities they identify with.
Since their establishment, Young Pride Club provides a safe learning space for young people interested in gender equality and the LGBTQ+ Community, supported by the Department of Women's Studies Chiang Mai University.
Since legally registered in 2024 under the name of « Young Pride Foundation », our organization provides on the ground and online activism activities to develop leadership, participation, and cooperation for gender equality and diversity advocacy from local, national and multilateral spaces.
Since being part of the Community Accelerator program in 2020, Young Pride Club has doubled their online reach and now has over 50,000 followers. They have also developed 100+ young LGBTI+ leaders across 4 regions of Thailand, collaborating with 100+ NGOs and organized Chiang Mai Pride, Youth Pride Thailand, and Elderly Pride Thailand.
During the pandemic, Young Pride Team collaborated with local fundraising organizations to provide more than 400 relief bags to marginalized people including LGBTQIAN+ labor, and undocumented workers in Chiang Mai. The team is currently in the early stages of working with local businesses to encourage inclusivity the workplace for young graduates to pursue a career that respects their dignity.
