Sukamiskin Islamic Boarding School has been established since 1881 AD or 1298 Hijri. Founded by 2 charismatic scholars' father and son, KH. R. Alqo and KH. R. Muhammad. Sukamiskin is the name of an area located in the East Bandung area. The name Sukamiskin is taken from the Arabic, namely Suq (سوق) and Misk (مسك). Suq is market and Misk means perfume. So the word Suq Misk can be interpreted as “Perfume Market”. The name Suq Misk was named by its founder directly, namely KH. R. Muhammad bin KH. R. Alqo. At that time, the pesantren was the first educational center in the city of Bandung, which was visited by many people who wanted to study science, especially in the field of religion. The large number of people who come to study science so that the pesantren is likened to a market that is visited by many buyers. After finishing studying, they develop the knowledge they have acquired in their respective villages, so that knowledge is like perfume which is fragrant and spreads everywhere. Over time, the Sundanese people had difficulty calling Suq Misk. So, little by little the word Suq Misk changed to Sukamiskin. Because the word Sukamiskin is easier to pronounce than Suq Misk.
