Wooden Horse is a dynamic partnership between Australian entertainment industry executives Jude Troy & Richard Finlayson.
Combining their extensive international networks & working with the best creative talent, Wooden Horse is focussed on distinctive, provocative & bold storytelling for global audiences.
The company was created in 2018 by Jude following a successful 17-year career at global media group Entertainment One & iconic Australian company, Hopscotch Films, where she was a partner.
Working in acquisitions across film & TV, she built a catalogue of titles that included the Oscar winning documentary Amy, & TV series Peaky Blinders, Catastrophe, The Inbetweeners & The Slap. Jude was also an Executive Producer on AACTA Award-winning feature documentary All This Mayhem.
In launching eOne’s Australian TV production arm, she co-produced The Other Guy Season 1 in partnership with Aquarius Films for Stan. Under the Wooden Horse banner, she co-produced with Aquarius, Season 2. Both seasons have sold to Hulu (US) & Super Channel (Canada).
Having collaborated on several projects, Richard Finlayson joined Wooden Horse as a producing partner in 2019, merging his company, Headland Media, into the business. At Headland, Richard consulted on content strategy to global media companies, created & produced the Ben Law series Waltzing the Dragon for the ABC (with WildBear) & shepherded a number of projects into funded development.
As the Director of Television at ABC, he was responsible for commissioning hundreds of hours of ground-breaking content and pioneering a raft of successful international co-productions including Cleverman (AMC Sundance), Glitch (NBC, Netflix), The Code (Sony) & Monkey Magic (Netflix). Prior to that he was COO at SBS.
Wooden Horse is developing an exciting slate of shows with Australia’s leading creatives for partners including Stan & ABC.
