We are a collaborative network of senior water professionals, each with 30+ years of experience, committed to improving how Aotearoa New Zealand manages its water.
Formed in 2024 by Steve Carne, Julie Kinloch, and Brent Manning, and joined in 2025 by Martyn Cole, the Collective combines more than 130 years of expertise across New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, the UK, and the Pacific Islands.
We bring complementary strengths to the table. Each of us runs our own practice, but the real value comes when we work together, sharing insights, challenging ideas, and drawing on each other’s skills to support our client partners. That collegial style means every project benefits from the right mix of expertise, perspective, and practical know-how.
How we work Each of us operates through our established entities — Taonga Water Advisory (Steve), JKSolutions (Julie), Cairocat Enterprises (Brent), and MWater Advance (Martyn). For clients, this means one clear contracting relationship with the lead advisor best suited to the work. Behind the scenes, that advisor can draw on the wider Collective to bring in the right expertise at the right time.
This approach keeps the focus on your challenge, ensures delivery is nimble, and makes collaboration seamless. You don’t need to manage multiple suppliers or navigate complex arrangements; you get the benefits of four advisors, with the simplicity and accountability of one.
