Description
The Vietnam Australia Centre (VAC) is a vibrant and dynamic centre of excellence based in Hanoi that draws on Australian and Vietnamese experts to support Vietnam’s future leadership in addressing national and international challenges. The VAC enables Vietnam and Australia to bring together influential leaders to pursue policy solutions to shared regional issues, while deepening people to people and institutional links.
The VAC is a centrepiece of Australia’s commitment to its development partnership with Vietnam that was introduced to the public in Vietnam and Australia in the joint Prime Ministers’ public statement in August 2019. This exciting new initiative establishes a physical and virtual hub for a range of new and continuing activities delivering mutual benefits to both countries.
The VAC seeks to strengthen the bilateral relationship and create a symbol of trust between Australia and Vietnam. This will enable Australia to increase its standing as a valued contributor to Vietnam’s national development and international engagement.
The VAC builds on strong partnerships between the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and three key Vietnamese institutions: the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the Office of Government (OOG). VAC is committed to strengthening existing innovative partnerships between universities, research agencies, not-for-profits and businesses in Vietnam and Australia.
The VAC is being delivered as a component of the Aus4Skills Program by managing contractor Tetra Tech International Development on behalf of DFAT in Vietnam.
