Welcome to the UoN Philosophy Society: a place where students and staff from University of Newcastle (as well as non-students) can discuss philosophical concepts both serious and silly!
20+ local events a year, including Philosophy @ the Pub every second Thursday.
200+ members, including students from every discipline, staff and general public.
400+ subscribers.
Our Aims:
1. To make philosophy accessible to everyone, no matter their educational background or lack thereof.
2. To actually DO philosophy not just study it and have fun in the process!
Our commitments to you:
1. We will not presume any prior philosophical knowledge and we WILL NOT, we repeat, WILL NOT get bogged down in dry, obscure philosophy.
2. We will (to the best of our ability) hold fun, social yet philosophical events where everyone is encouraged to speak up and contribute.

The Philosophy Society is for everyone, no matter their background. Do you like to think deeply about things? Yes? Then this is the place for you! We want to hear what YOU think about such philosophical questions as 'What makes something funny?', 'Why be moral?', 'Why is there something rather than nothing?', 'What is the Good Life?' and many many more. So come join us! Whether you're an aspiring scientist, historian, doctor, anthropologist, engineer, mathematician, linguist, economist, check-out chick, or philosopher YOU ARE WELCOME!
