Universitas Islam Darussalam Ciamis adalah perguruan Tinggi Agama Islam yang menggabungkan antara pendidikan akademik dengan pendidikan pesantren, yaitu Pondok Pesantren Darussalam Ciamis. Pendidikan Tinggi Islam lahir pada tanggal 1 Juni 1970 ini sejak lama telah dipercaya pemerintah dan masyarakat untuk mendidik calon – calon sarjana ulama – cendekia, yang memiliki visi ke-islaman, keilmuan, kebangsaan, dan kemasyarakatan. kepercayaan itu dibuktikan dengan jumlah ribuan alumni yang tersebar di hampir seluruh pelosok nusantara dalam berbagai peran dan kedudukan.
Institut Agama Islam Darussalam (IAID) Ciamis bertransformasi menjadi Universitas Islam Darussalam (UID), yang telah disahkan berdasarkan Keputusan Menteri Agama Nomor 1128 tahun 2023 tertanggal 12 Desember 2023. Transformasi ini, sekali lagi, merupakan salah satu upaya untuk membangun struktur keilmuan holistik dan integratif, yang diharapkan mampu mewujudkan universalitas Islam, sekaligus mampu menjembatani kesenjangan antara ilmu-ilmu agama Islam di satu sisi dengan ilmu-ilmu umum di sisi lain.
