Description

The Thomasian Debaters Council (TDC) is one of the most successful debate organizations in Asia and is the official debate varsity of the University of Santo Tomas (UST). Since its inception in 1994, the TDC has garnered numerous awards both in the national and international level. Throughout its journey, it has acquired championships in the 2nd and 4th All Asian Intervarsity Debate Championsip, World Universities Debate Championship – English as Second Language Category, and the 1st National Debate Championship. TDC was 1st Runner Up in the concluded 5th Inquirer Inter-collegiate Debate Championship and Champion in the 1st EC-OMB National Debate Championship.

The TDC is a non-profit organization that aims to pursue a policy of academic excellence thru public speaking and debate, as well as to uphold the standards of excellence of the UST in all tournaments or competitions here and abroad. Recognized by the Office of Student Affairs, TDC is the sole body allowed to represent the university in various debate competitions.

In line with its commitment to create a conducive atmosphere of intellectual discourses for students, TDC organizes debate competitions such as the Dialectics, UST Intervarsities and trainings like the Continuous Education Program.

Membership to the organization is open to any bona fide student of UST who has a firm commitment in rallying the aims of TDC through continuous training and participation in tournaments.
