Description
We’re a not-for-profit organisation founded and based in Hawke’s Bay. We imagine a world where young people and their family who are impacted by cancer, have access to all the support they need.
We have an office and shared space in Hastings, where young people and their family can connect with other Acorn Project members who share similar experiences.
We believe that all young people deserve to be seen and heard, they need to be able to express their worries, thoughts and opinions at every stage of their cancer experience.
They deserve to feel empowered as they continue to develop life skills as they plan for their future, whether they have cancer or not.
All of our support is carried out face to face with our locally based youth workers.
We offer one-on-one support, peer support, therapeutic workshops, monthly activities, yearly therapeutic and activity based camps, a parent and caregiver network, and a leadership programme. We also co-ordinate with other services to provide additional or specialist support if it is needed.
