The Mulberry Project is a social enterprise and registered charity based in the Toowoomba Region, Queensland, Australia. We transform underutilised farmland into market gardens and create opportunities for the training and employment of disadvantaged communities in farming and food. We operate a Social Gardening program from the Royal Agricultural Society of Queensland (RASQ) Toowoomba Showgrounds. We also deliver accredited Horticulture and employment pathway programs in collaboration with a range of partners including industry body Growcom Australia, Registered Training Organisations, the Queensland Government and the RASQ Toowoomba Showgrounds. Since 2019, we have supported 174 disadvantaged jobseekers into ongoing employment. The Mulberry Project Ltd facilities training, both experiential and vocational, in farming and food using regenerative and closed loop methodologies and focusses on overcoming barriers to employment by taking a strengths-based approach that values existing skill sets, cultural knowledge and two-way learning. We seek to empower people with existing barriers, to share and contribute as a valued member of society.
