Description

The HUG Project was founded in 2012 by Boom Mosby, a Thai national with a mission to effect lasting change in her country. To this day, HUG’s purpose remains steadfast: to prevent, protect, and restore child victims of abuse, sexual exploitation, and human trafficking. The HUG Project’s work has earned domestic and international recognition. Boom Mosby has received the 2018 Vital Voices Global leader in Human rights, Excellence in Counter Trafficking Award from the Royal Thai police in 2018, and the 2017 US State Department TIP Hero (Trafficking in Persons). This has allowed HUG to further build connections with prosecutors, government officials, and law enforcement, that specifically work on human trafficking cases. After our partnership with Thailand Internet Crimes Against Children (TICAC) in 2015, we have been able to move forward and further advance a victim-centric approach within law enforcement agencies as well as government protocol. We teamed up with TICAC to create the TICAC SOP manual that focuses on a child-centric approach. This manual was distributed throughout law enforcement agencies 2019 to educate and spread awareness of a child-centric approach during a case.

HUG also provides training for teachers and caregivers on how to prevent and identify signs of abuse. Our strategy is to connect and collaborate with a network of NGOs, government officials, and law enforcement agencies so we have the ability to reach and support more children. Our vision is that children and adolescents will be healthy, safe, and prepared for a productive adulthood.
