Shockingly, most parents remain largely unsupported in the workplace, despite policies carefully put in place for this specific purpose.

Teen Revolution works within the finance industry to help organisations expand the support they offer parents to include parents of teens.

Many organisations have great policies around parental leave and assisting new parents in the early years, however, as children get older, there is often little to no support in the workplace.

At Teen Revolution, we propose the teen years can present even more challenges to parents, such as school days and holidays being misaligned with work hours; conflict increases within the home both in intensity and frequency; teens engage in problematic risk-taking behaviour that may result in issues at school, or they may have mental health struggles that need close attention.

Issues such as these can have dire impacts on a parent’s wellbeing and work performance. They bring stress from home into the workplace, have higher rates absenteeism and leave work early to attend to their teen, sometimes at short notice. Their focus and productivity are affected, as is their ability to handle higher levels of pressure at work. They are more likely to make mistakes and be less open to feedback.

At Teen Revolution, we adopt two approaches within each organisation.

Firstly, we educate leaders of the unique challenges parents of teens face when navigating the adolescent years, how these challenges impact their work performance and the benefits of supporting parents of teens in the organisation for both individuals and the company.

Secondly, we work directly with parents and teach them how to navigate the teen years effectively AND thrive professionally.

We use specially designed frameworks which are evidence based, easy to implement and don’t add to people’s daily workload. They have immediate and long-term benefits for all.
