Description
Te Whare Awhero (Hope House) has worked in the greater Hornby area for more than 35 years, providing a range of community and social services under the overarching mission of Bringing Hope.
Our staff includes a team of qualified counsellors providing community counselling services including subsidised services to those in need and professional EAP services to businesses, and a team of Mana Ake school-based counselling and support workers. We also run Oscar before and after school and holiday programmes based in four Hornby schools, including heavily or fully subsidised support for struggling families, and employ a dedicated community support worker engaged in a range of projects and support work in the community.
Our Longitudinal Whanau Support Programme was launched in 2022, and aims to combine the contacts and experience we have built in our range of programmes to build a stable, long-term support network for the most vulnerable children in our community. we worked directly with our local community to develop a long term (up to 15 years) whānau support programme. It works by bringing together layers of support around children, building a long term social worker connection with a child's whanau network, supporting relationships in the child's school, and expanding the child's horizons by building community links to activities and opportunities through school-based Opportunity Hubs.
