Our team works collaboratively with community-based organisations, other research institutions, governments and international development agencies across a variety of key areas, from gender to population health, to sustainability and climate change, as well as tourism, wellbeing, public services, social protection and security. At Te Puna Vai Mārama, we are committed to achieving research excellence by investing in local expertise and fostering the next generation of Cook Islands researchers. Our team is dedicated to advancing knowledge through high-quality research, peer-reviewed publications, and the development of innovative projects. We believe that meaningful research happens through collaboration. TPVM works closely with Cook Islands government ministries, statutory bodies, regional organisations, and international partners to deliver research that is both relevant and impactful. Engagement with our communities is at the heart of our mission. We share knowledge widely through public seminars, workshops, conferences, and accessible publications across multiple platforms. Our researchers actively participate in national conversations on issues of importance - from climate change and environmental resilience to social and cultural concerns - ensuring that research is not only produced, but also understood, applied, and valued by the communities it serves.
