ILAW NG TAHANAN PUBLISHING, INC. is a Filipino corporation dedicated to making quality books for Filipino families as well as supplementary curriculum materials for schools and libraries. Named for the Filipino word for “home,” Tahanan aims to nurture a passion for learning with books that celebrate Philippine culture and history.
Incorporated in 1991, Tahanan launched its maiden titles (the “Great Lives” biography series of Philippine heroes) in 1992 at the Philippine Book Fair. Renowned for its thoughtful attention to both text and artwork, Tahanan is a fourteen-time winner of the Philippines’ National Book Award for Children’s Literature awarded by the National Book Development Board. It has also collected the Ceres Alabado Award for Outstanding Children’s Literature, three Gintong Aklat Awards from the Book Development Association of the Philippines and four White Ravens from the International Youth Library. More recently, Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino gave Tahanan Books a lifetime achievement award in the institutional category for it contributions to Philippine literature through the Gawad Dangal ng Panitikan 2022.
Over the last quarter-century, Tahanan has produced an impressive array of over 150 titles. Its publist showcases biographies of Philippine heroes, folk tale and short story anthologies, reference and science books, bilingual & Filipino picture books, and Pinoy pop culture books.
Tahanan holds its main office in Legaspi Village, Makati City, Philippines. Its products are available in major bookstore chains, museum and specialty shops, as well as online through Lazada, Shopee and a number of book sellers on social media.
