Symbiosis is a duly recognized academic organization in the University of the Philippines at Los Banos, compliant with the rules and policies of the Office of Student Affairs, UPLB.
Founded on August 24, 1974, Symbiosis is the first student organization in the Institute of Biological Sciences and is an organization that strives to maintain and contribute to the further improvement of the existing high scholastic standards of the University of the Philippines. Inspired by its purpose to better comprehend the revelations of Biology within the context of human experience and values, the members of Symbiosis work together in the spirit of trust, camaraderie and commitment, initiating and pursuing activities that are beneficial to the organization, its members, the environment, and the society.
The membership of Symbiosis is open not only to life sciences majors, but to any UPLB student who shares the views and objectives of the organization. “Samahang Haynayan ng UPLB” was adopted as the Filipino name of the organization.
