Surabaya Hacker Link adalah organisasi non-profit, Komunitas ini bukanlah sebuah grup hacker, melainkan komunitas penggiat IT yang sudah cukup lama ada, berawal dari IRC (Internet Relay Chat) channel #poolside, karena banyak yang berasal dari Surabaya kami sering mengadakan gathering dan kopdar namun kegiatan awal-awal ini tidak kami publikasikan (underground) hingga pada saatnya komunitas ini harus padam karena kesibukan anggotanya masing-masing dari urusan pekerjaan hingga urusan keluarga, karena dianggap komunitas IT seperti ini sedikit kami memutuskan untuk melakukan regenerasi, saat ini sudah memasuki generasi kedua. Kami memilih jalan terbuka untuk untuk umum, kegiatan kami saat ini adalah mini gathering bulanan serta acara lainnya seperti workshop dan seminar, kami juga memiliki acara tahunan yang berjudul unmask cyber crime, kami juga didukung penuh oleh Ibu Risma selaku walikota Surabaya, saat ini komunitas ini terus berkembang meskipun terkadang mengalami pasang surut, kami sangat terbuka untuk umum, karena acara kami befokus untuk mengedukasi masyarakat bagaimana pentingnya sebuah data di dunia maya serta berbagi tips dan trik agar data kita aman dari hacker jahat, baik dari sisi user maupun developer, kami pernah menerima tawaran untuk pentest dibeberapa perusahaan baik dalam maupun luar negeri, seperti industri perbankan, BUMN, dan swasta.
