Cikal bakal STT Texmaco dimulai dengan dibukanya Pusat Pelatihan (training center) calon karyawan Texmaco pada tahun 1997 dimana sebelum ditempatkan pada salah satu plant Texmaco, setiap calon karyawan harus mengikuti dan dinyatakan lulus pelatihan kemampuan dasar manufaktur di training center Texmaco.
Setelah masa-masa training selesai seiring perekrutan karyawan Texmaco yang telah selesai muncul ide dan keinginan mendirikan Pendidikan Tinggi yang kemudian lahir dengan nama Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Texmaco (STT Texmaco) Subang.
STT Texmaco merupakan Sekolah Tinggi dibawah naungan Yayasan Pusat Pengembangan Sains dan Teknologi Texmaco (YPPSTT) yang sekarang berubah nama menjadi Yayasan Pusat Pengembangan Ilmu dan Teknologi Texmaco (YPPITT). STT Texmaco didirikan pada masa reformasi Indonesia, otonomi daerah, dan derasnya isu globalisasi dunia berdasarkan SK Menteri Pendidikan Nasional Republik Indonesia No. 163/D/O/1998, Tanggal 2 Desember 1998.
