Description
The New Zealand Structural Engineering Society (SESOC) is the largest collaborating technical society of Engineering New Zealand, with a membership of nearly 3500, most of whom are practising structural engineers. SESOC employs a part time Executive Officer and we work closely with Engineering New Zealand who manage many of our operational needs. SESOC otherwise runs on the good will and volunteer efforts of our Management Committee and Membership.
SESOC’s objectives are to:
- Promote excellence in the art, science and practice of structural engineering design
- Advance and disseminate knowledge relating to structural engineering
- Promote and participate in the education and training of structural engineers
- Provide a forum for communication about structural engineering issues among Members of the Society and to the New Zealand public
- Participate in the development of New Zealand Standards, Codes of Practice, and Guidelines related to the design, construction and materials used in structural engineering
- Promote the design of safe economical structures, built to recognised standards and sustainable design principles, which are of benefit to all New Zealanders
- Work with like-minded organisations to advance the above purposes.
