Description

We are a research group in the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, led by Prof. Tan Lay Poh. Our laboratory is dedicated to advancing sustainable and biomedical materials research through innovation, collaboration, and education.

Our core technology is focused on scaffold fabrication and cell-seeding in a single-step method for the production of cultivated meat. Our single-step technology does not require surface modification of scaffolds, and is able to modulate differentiation of cells through mechanotransduction. This enables us to produce cultivated meat from stem cells without using expensive differentiation media, and avoid other issues in traditional scaffold technology such as worrying about cell seeding density and uniformity.

At our lab, we also develop advanced scaffolds for the purposes of regenerative medicine and alternative food. Our other technologies include valorizing waste products for sustainability, and designing polymers and composites for engineering applications. Our lab team is a passionate and supportive community of researchers with diverse expertise. Join us to in our goal to advance scientific knowledge and develop innovative solutions to make a positive impact on society.
