Spark That Chat (STC) was established by Jack Jensen in 2021 as a social enterprise movement in response to losing friends to suicide. Initially launched as a mental health fundraising campaign, featuring sales of branded design apparel during the month of March, Spark That Chat soon expanded into an independent entity.
In October 2024, STC achieved the status of a registered charity. Although STC is relatively new, it is already making a considerable impact in the field of mental health.
Spark That Chat’s purpose is to create extraordinary spaces to enable people to share experiences and stories, thereby:
Encouraging connections Fostering strength in vulnerability Promoting good lifestyle choices leading to the development of healthy minds
There is a wealth of empirical evidence that shows social connection is key to mental wellbeing. STC events evolved out of the need for opportunities to meet up with others in safe, fun, accessible environments.
