Description

The Special Olympics Melbourne Inner East (MIE) club is based in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and is run by volunteers. Operating for more than 45 years, MIE was among the first Special Olympics clubs established in Australia. We provide weekly grassroots sporting, recreational and social activities, and prepares athletes for competition pathways ranging from club events to regional, state and national games, culminating in the Special Olympics World Games. Special Olympics MIE run year-round sports training, coaching and competition for over 200 registered athletes with intellectual disabilities, helping them to lead a full and rich life. The sporting opportunities delivered to our athletes, via dedicated volunteer members are athletics, basketball, bocce, equestrian, gymnastics, soccer, swimming, tennis, tenpin bowling and wintersports.
