Shakey’s is and has always been about providing great times and great memories. When Sherwood “Shakey” Jonhson and Ed Plummer opened the first Shakey’s Pizza Parlor and Ye Public House, they had one thing in mind – opening a great place where people could get together, eat, drink and enjoy favorite ragtime standards. Shakey’s gained a huge following and the increased sales eventually allowed it to branch out into different states in the US, including Oregon in 1956, Washington and California in 1957.
In 1975, San Miguel Corporation thought of locally franchising Shakey’s to promote their draft beer. A year later, a change of ownership to Golden Pizza Incorporated took place. This first ever Shakey’s branch opened in March 15, 1975 along Makati Avenue, with its great tasting and crisp pizzas, unique chicken and mojos tandem, flowing cold draft beer, cheerful service and fun atmosphere, became an instant hit in Manila. This first store paved the way for many more and eventually made Shakey’s to be known as the Home of the Original Thin Crust Pizza, The World’s Greatest Pizza and has become a household name that it is today. To date Shakey’s has over 200 stores nationwide.
ABOUT SPAVI Shakey's Pizza Asia Ventures, Inc.(PIZZA) is the exclusive franchise holder of the Shakey's Pizza Restaurant business in the Philippines and is licensed to develop company-owned Shakey's outlets and sub-license the Shakey's brand to other entities. On April 1, 2016, Shakey's Asia Food Holdings, Inc. (SAFHI), acquired 100% interest in PIZZA.
In June 2019, PIZZA acquired Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken, an emerging fast casual and full service restaurant brand in the Philippines. The Company also entered into a master franchise agreement with Singapore-based Koufu Group Ltd in 2020 to bring the R&B milk tea brand to the Philippines.
In December 2021, the Company added to its portfolio of WoW Brands, Potato Corner, one of the leading and most established food kiosk chains in the country.
