STIE Ekuitas didirikan oleh Dewan Pendiri yaitu Dewan Direksi Bank Jabar-Banten yang diselenggarakan oleh Yayasan Kesejahteraan Pegawai (YKP) Bank Jabar-Banten dalam upaya meningkatkan kualitas para pegawainya. Dalam perkembangannya, STIE Ekuitas secara moral turut bertanggungjawab pada pengembangan kualitas sumber daya manusia Indonesia melalui kegiatan pendidikan. Sehingga pada akhirnya STIE Ekuitas tidak hanya melayani pegawai Bank Jabar Banten semata, tetapi juga melayani masyarakat terutama yang berada di Jawa Barat. Seiring dengan perkembangan globalisasi bidang pendidikan, STIE Ekuitas terus berupaya meningkatkan kualitasnya, baik pembenahan sarana dan prasarana yang memadai dan pelayanan yang baik di bidang proses belajar-mengajar, agar lulusan dan STIE Ekuitas memiliki daya saing dengan perguruan tinggi lain dalam rangka mencerdaskan kehidupan bangsa dan membentuk watak serta peradaban bangsa yang bermartabat, sesuai dengan Visi dan Misi Depdiknas 2025 INSAN INDONESIA CERDAS DAN KOMPETITIF.
