Di Bandung pada tanggal 4 Juni 1958 berdiri Yayasan “Universitas Bandung” sebagai Badan Hukum Pendiri/ Penyelenggara Perguruan Tinggi bernama UNIVERSITAS BANDUNG yang memulai kegiatan pendidikannya pada tanggal 1 Agustus 1958. Universitas Bandung saat itu memiliki 7 fakultas, yakni Fakultas Hukum, Fakultas Ekonomi, Fakultas Kedokteran, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (MIPA), Fakultas Teknik, Fakultas Manajemen, dan Fakultas Sosial Politik.
Dalam perkembangannya, dari 7 fakultas tersebut hanya Fakultas Hukum Universitas Bandung yang masih dapat dipertahankan eksistensinya. Adanya realitas ini dan atas anjuran dari Koordinator Koordinasi Perguruan Tinggi Swasta Wilayah III (sekarang Wilayah IV Jawa Barat dan Banten), kemudian pada tahun 1976 Fakultas Hukum Universitas Bandung mengalami perubahan nama menjadi SEKOLAH TINGGI HUKUM BANDUNG (STHB) - dikukuhkan dalam Surat Keputusan Koordinator Koordinasi Perguruan Tinggi Swasta Wilayah III Jawa Barat Nomor 63 Tahun 1976, tanggal 12 November 1976 - dan Yayasan "Universitas Bandung" masih tetap sebagai Badan Hukum Pendiri/ Penyelenggara STHB.
