Berawal dari Jambore Anak Jalanan (JAJ) yang pertama kali diselenggarakan pada tahun 1997, sejumlah voluntir yang terdiri dari mahasiswa, alumni, dan profesional – yang tergabung dalam kepanitiaan - melihat adanya satu kebutuhan esensial pada generasi anak kaum urban, khususnya anak-anak jalanan di Jakarta - yakni pendidikan sebagai pendongkrak status, ekonomi, dan karakter menuju fase yang lebih baik.
