"The Darlings"
Welcome to the Rotary Club of Sydney Darling Harbour, affectionately known as the “Darlings”. We are a social, diverse, “hands on” club with a focus on participation. As a breakfast club we offer meetings which commence at 7:30 am and finish by 8:30 am on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at the Grace Hotel, 77 York Street, Sydney. Being part of the Darlings is a great way to be active in your community but also to make a difference on a global scale. We value every member’s input and strive to reinvent ourselves to keep ourselves fresh and relevant to our community. This year we will continue to focus on providing support and assistance to the homeless, disadvantaged men, women and children in our community. In particular we are establishing a scholarship fund to support our partners to turn lives around though education and training. See our Projects, our members have opportunities to get involved in a number of activities that suit their skills or interests including: volunteering, club projects, fundraising, event planning, leadership roles, public speaking, business networking, mentoring, community service and more!

What is Rotary?
Rotary is a service organisation that is striving to make the world a better place. Rotary’s motto is “Service Above Self” and it has 1.2 million members, in 33,000 clubs, in over 200 countries worldwide. Rotary was founded in 1905 and works on local, national and international projects.
Rotary has six areas of focus: Peace and conflict prevention/resolution; Disease prevention and treatment; Water and sanitation; Maternal and child health; Basic education and literacy; and Economic and community development. Rotary’s own charity, The Rotary Foundation has spent over 3 billion USD in making the world better since it was founded in 1917, mainly in the six areas of focus. It was Rotary who initiated the quest for ending polio around the world, we started in 1989 when there were 350,000 people annually contracting polio, and in 2018 there have been only 3 cases so far (as at 15 March).
