Description

RMIT Motorsport is RMIT University’s premier Formula Student team, competing in the Formula SAE-A series with a fully electric, student-built, open-wheel race car.

We represent over two decades of engineering innovation, combining the strengths of two legacy teams: RMIT Racing (est. 1999) and RMIT Electric Racing (est. 2008). Together, we've set benchmarks both in Australia and on the world stage.

RMIT Racing made history as the first Australian team to win Formula Student UK in 2003, claiming the inaugural win at Silverstone. In 2008, RMIT Electric Racing was founded to explore the potential of electric powertrains in Formula Student — and to show they could match, and eventually rival, their combustion counterparts. That same year, we built and ran the world's first electric FSAE car.

Today, RMIT Motorsport continues to push the limits of student engineering and electric performance. With each car, we aim to innovate, learn, and lead- developing cutting-edge technology and preparing the next generation of engineers, designers, and industry professionals through real-world competition.
