Rethink Recycling is a volunteer-driven not-for-profit inspiring people of all ages to see plastic as a valuable resource, not waste. We deliver hands-on education programs and school incursions across early learning, primary and secondary levels, bringing the circular economy to life through the story of a plastic lid.
Our travelling trailer, RUSTIE, brings the full recycling experience to schools and community events, complete with small-scale plastic recycling machinery that shreds, melts and remoulds lids into new creations. These interactive, mobile workshops spark curiosity about sustainability, design and innovation, helping participants understand the value of materials and the impact of their choices.
Beyond schools, we collaborate with councils, community groups, businesses, and disability service providers to run events, talks and volunteer day workshops that make recycling real and relevant, ensuring our programs are inclusive and accessible for participants of all abilities. We also support local artists and designers by offering recycled plastic for creative projects and sculptures.
