The Rainforest Youth Summit (RAYS) is a regional platform that brings together young people, Indigenous communities, scientists, creatives, and organisations to explore practical pathways for a more sustainable and climate-resilient future.
Since its inception, RAYS has welcomed over 1700 delegates and more than 50 speakers from 37 countries, fostering collaboration across cultures, knowledge systems, and sectors.
Hosted in Sarawak, Borneo – one of the world’s most vital rainforest regions and home to significant carbon-rich landscapes – the summit is grounded in a place where ecosystems, culture, and community are deeply interconnected. This setting provides a meaningful environment for conversations on biodiversity protection, climate adaptation, Indigenous knowledge, and youth-led solutions.
Organised and funded by the State Government of Sarawak, and endorsed by partners including ASEAN, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), and UN Tourism, RAYS supports young leaders in shaping locally grounded, globally relevant climate and sustainability action.
From 24–26 June 2026, RAYS returns to Kuching, offering a welcoming space for learning, exchange, and collective imagination. Delegates gain new insights, build regional networks, and explore solutions rooted in community values, cultural continuity, and shared responsibility.
