Description
Established in 2017, our mission at the Quoll Society is centered on safeguarding the four Australian species of quoll, with a primary focus on the Spotted-tailed Quoll (Dasyurus maculatus). Through collaborative efforts with various partners, including National Parks staff, local councils, private landholders, our generous members, and our dedicated team of volunteers (or Quoll-unteers, as we fondly call them), we engage in comprehensive research and conservation initiatives. Our aim is to deepen our understanding of quolls, address threats to their survival, and restore crucial habitat that benefits not only quolls but also numerous other threatened species.
Given that many Australians are unfamiliar with quolls, a significant aspect of our mission is to raise public awareness about these extraordinary marsupials. Australia's four quoll species are unique, serving as the largest native marsupial predators on the mainland, second only to their Tasmanian cousin, the Tasmanian Devil. Regrettably, all four of these carnivorous species face the threat of extinction without intervention, a fate akin to their larger cousin, the Tasmanian Tiger.
