Description

Established in 2007 and officially registered as an Indonesian legal entity in 2012 under the name Extractive Resource Transparency Foundation (Yayasan Transparansi Sumber Daya Ekstraktif) with registration number AHU-00026.50.10.2014.

PWYP Indonesia aims to promote just, participatory, transparent, and accountable governance across the entire value chain and decision-making processes in the energy and natural resource sectors. It also seeks to consolidate public interests from a civil society perspective and strengthen civil society’s capacity for sustained, active participation in energy and natural resource governance at the national, local, and global levels, with the goal of advancing social and ecological justice.

PWYP Indonesia is affiliated with the global Publish What You Pay (PWYP) campaign, launched in 2002 to demand that extractive companies disclose payments made to governments. This coalition played a key role in the creation of the global Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), which has been implemented in many resource-rich countries. Over time, PWYP expanded its advocacy scope beyond revenue transparency to address the entire extractive industry value chain as well as tackling climate change and promote a just energy transition
