STI is under the ownership of Net1 International Holdings, a multinational telecommunications company based in Scandinavia. In order to expand and enhance the wireless network, from May 2017 onwards STI has operated a nationwide license for the deployment of a 4G LTE network with a frequency of 450 MHz.
STI's commitment to delivering high quality internet access to remote areas through the Net1 Indonesia service has been authorized and the service has undergone the mandatory Uji Laik Operasi (ULO: Operational Eligibility Test).
With its broad coverage characteristics, STI focuses on bringing 4G LTE services to rural and sub-urban areas. The 450 MHz frequency is considered very suitable for an archipelago nation like Indonesia, which has a large and widely-dispersed population. STI remains committed to providing LTE-450 MHz network access for 260 million Indonesian people spread over more than 14,000 islands.
