Artha Prima Finance sebelumnya bernama PT. Partha Persada Multi Finance sebelum kemudian diambil alih oleh Sejahtera Group pada tahun 2003 dan kemudian diganti namanya. Perusahaan kemudian mendapat izin dari Menteri Keuangan Republik Indonesia untuk menjalankan usaha dalam bidang pembiayaan. Pada saat ini perusahaan berfokus pada pembiayaan kendaraan roda empat atau lebih yang bersifat produktif. Pangsa pasar yang dibidik oleh perusahaan adalah para pengusaha kelas menengah yang membutuhkan pembiayaan bagi kendaraan mereka.
Pada tahun 2012 perusahaan telah melepas surat utang pertamanya di Bursa Efek Indonesia dengan peringkat BBB (Stabil) oleh Pefindo. Perusahaan juga telah meraih prestasi sebagai perusahaan dengan predikat “Sangat Baik” selama 10 tahun berturut-turut oleh salah satu majalah Infobank.
