Description

The Prisoners Aid Association of NSW was formed in 1901. For over a century we have been providing practical help to inmates, ex-inmates and their families.

We aid reintegration back into the community and seek to lower recidivism.

Prison services:

The inmate property service is the largest of our programs. We collect inmates’ property and small personal items and arrange for them to be held by family or stored. We are investigating ways to provide larger items to ex-prisoners on release, like furniture. We are also exploring banking services to enable prisoners to maintain bank accounts while in prison.

Employment:

Mates on the Move is a commercial social enterprise delivering private removal services and commercial recycling and sustainability services. Mates on the Move exists to provide jobs and work experience to ex-prisoners and to fund the training of ex-prisoners in work/life skills through our Class Mates Program.

For more on Mates on the Move, or to book a removal, see our removals site - https://matesonthemove.org/.

Training and Education:

Class Mates is the training arm of our social enterprise, Mates on the Move, delivering training to ex-prisoners.
