Description
Photonics Engineering field is a branch of engineering discipline, that deals with the implementation of principles in Optics in developing integrated optical/photonics systems to solve daily lives. These integrated optical/photonics systems can be utilized for various industrial monitoring systems, systems for defense/military applications, diagnostics and therapeutics applications in healthcare, as well as to be used in agriculture and farming, i.e. for increasing yield, quality assurance and authentication of agricultural/farming products. An integrated optical/photonics system usually developed and constructed of dedicated light source, optical components for manipulating the light beams, an suitable optical detectors. Dedicated electronic data acquisition and control systems usually used as additional necessary components. The use of light as one component of electromagnetic waves gives several advantages, in terms of accuracy, precision, non-contact measurement capability, as well as immunity to any electromagnetic interferences.
