Description
Globally, the pandemic, intense weather events associated with climate change and geopolitical instability have placed immense pressure on women and girls. Violence against women has been increasing locally and progress towards gender equality is going backwards. The Zonta Club of Perth Inc is acutely aware that it needs to do more.
President - Ping Teo of the Zonta Club of Perth Inc has the vision to form an entity that is a ‘Deductible Gift Recipient’. Sha has worked tirelessly for nearly three years to establish the Perth Foundation for Women. It's aim is to carry on the work of Zonta International in Australia to ' Build a Better World for Women and Girls'
The Foundation will provide a range of support services for women and girls in need including:
1. Welcome packs for My Home project for homeless women 2. Supporting Ruah and the women staying at “Safe Night Space”
3. Provide ‘Feeling Safe and Free’ workshops’ in collaboration with Dr Marilyn Matte for vulnerable young women at risk of Domestic Violence or Coercive Control. Publication of information booklets for distribution to care centers and schools.
4. Provide Education and Training Scholarships for Aboriginal students in need.
