The Paper Cup Project started with one question: how can we help Perth artists, designers, thinkers and doers connect with the local community? While social media does wonders for the little people, the general rigmarole of it just wasn’t showcasing the killer Perth talent nearly enough in our eyes. After many a brain storm, whiskey, and late night, we saw the power and potential in the humble takeaway cup’s reach. It allows everyone the opportunity to stumble across something new, just by picking up their regular in a PCP cup. That means babies, grandmas and hippies can get in on the good stuff… Not just the iJunkies.

Our passion for the bean played a big part in the idea too. There’s just as much coffee talent on the Perth scene as there are typical artisans, and we’ve created a medium to share it all. By distributing PCP cups to independent cafes and restaurants, we’re able to expose the hole in the wall, hidden gems. It also adds a point on interest to the already well-trafficked favourites. We do it because we love Perth, the local talent, and the city’s coffee. At the core, PCP is about the community and making a positive difference, and you can’t succeed at that without giving back.

WHAT WE DO EXACTLY "Essentially, we make paper cups. Broadly, we help share Perth talent in a new way. "

Every two to three months, we wrap a local artist’s work around biodegradable cups and give it an Issue #. The cups also feature three businesses on the side. We then distribute the cups out to independent cafes and restaurants around town. To top it off, we give back to the community by donating profits to a different local charity with each new issue.
