Olimpiade Ekonomi (OE) merupakan salah satu agenda tahunan yang diselengarakan oleh Himpunan Mahasiswa Ekonomi Pembangunan Universitas Airlangga. Olimpiade Ekonomi merupakan ajang bagi siswa/i SMA dan sederajat di seluruh Indonesia yang bertujuan untuk menguji kompetensinya baik pengetahuan yang didapat di bangku sekolah maupun pengetahuan umum yang mereka dapat dari luar sekolah. Kegiatan ini juga sebagai salah satu ajang untuk memberikan gambaran mengenai jurusan Ekonomi Pembangunan dengan memberikan soal – soal yang menyangkut tentang mata kuliah yang terdapat di jurusan Ekonomi Pembangunan yang tentu saja disesuaikan dengan pengetahuan sosial yang didapat di bangku sekolah.

Setelah sukses mengadakan Olimpiade Ekonomi selama 16 Tahun dan telah berhasil memberikan kontribusi yang maksimal kepada seluruh Peserta Olimpiade Ekonomi, kini Olimpiade Ekonomi memberikan kesan baru untuk para Peserta dengan mengangkat “Renewable Energy Investment as Green Economic Recovery in Pandemic Era” sebagai tema besar Olimpiade Ekonomi ke – 17 yang bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi bahwa Investasi sumber daya terbarukan yang ramah lingkungan dan memiliki sifat sustainable dapat memberikan efek berantai bagi pemulihan ekonomi pasca pandemi COVID-19 serta pelestarian sumber daya alam dan lingkungan Indonesia di masa sekarang dan masa mendatang.
