North Shore competes in the Premier Division of the Sydney AFL competition and is one of its foundation members, having commenced in 1903.
We are one of the Sydney AFL’s most successful clubs, having won 13 senior premierships since 1903. These include most recently premierships in 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2007. The club only missed playing in the Sydney AFL Grand Final once between 2000 and 2007. Since 1996, the club has only missed playing finals in the Premier Division, in 2006. In total the club won 12 premierships across 3 grades in the 2000’s, with 4 reserves and 4 U18 flags.
North Shore has a strong emphasis on youth development and many players have gone onto play in the AFL including Lewis Roberts-Thompson (Sydney), Henry Playfair (Geelong and Sydney), Ryan Davis (rookie listed by West Coast in 2008, Gold Coast Suns 2016 Rookie Draft Pick), Will Sierakowski (Hawthorn and North Melbourne) and Richard Newell (rookie listed by Brisbane in 2011) and most recently Sam Naismith (rookie listed by Sydney in 2012). In November 2016, the young bomber Callum Mills was drafted by the Sydney Swans in the AFL Draft after they matched Melbourne’s bid at pick #3, becoming the highest drafted Sydney born player.
