Description
North West Youth Assembly (YA) is a youth voluntary group comprising youth leaders between the ages of 14 and 35. Members are involved in various self-initiated programmes and, together with the North West Community Development Council (CDC), help to implement community projects to connect with the residents in the North West District.
Annually, CDC inducts potential students from secondary schools within the North West District into YA. These students will go through the Young Leaders’ Committee (YLC) programme where they are exposed to community service work and given opportunities to lead in CDC programmes. Upon completion of their one-year YLC term, members are given opportunities to become leaders of YA to lead and mentor the new batches of members.
The YA focuses on developing our youths and raising their civic awareness through a service learning approach, which includes the following 5Cs:
- Compassion for others
- Creativity development
- Character building
- Competencies growth
- Commitment to the community
